Crematorio
Misent. It’s 2008. Rubén Bertomeu (José Sancho) has created a complex network of economic interests involving all the town’s powers that be. As an architect, builder and developer, it seems his potential to shape the landscape at his whim and become immensely rich knows no bounds.
Based on the titular Rafael Chirbes novel (National Critics’ Award 2008), the series ‘Crematorio’ marked a turning point in Spanish TV fiction in its portrayal of a Spain in which excessive greed and our understanding of progress reduces everything to ashes.

I couldn’t really work out where to start with the series when I first read the novel, with its endless reflections and characters. Then suddenly, a concept close to the novel began to emerge: introducing one character per episode. This approach would serve as a foundation for constructing flashbacks to reveal the origins of the characters’ relationships.
